Thank you

Sending a thank-you note is one of the easiest to write, since the sender is usually a friend or relative.
A "thank-you" note should be written by hand, a store-bought "thank-you" note is better than sending nothing at all, but a personally written note in your own words shows thoughtfulness and care from the receiver. Christine knows how busy and tired new mother's are, so she has given you a gift of words.

Six steps to a great note:
  1. Greet the giver - "Dear . . .,"
  2. Express gratitude - "Thank you so much for the baby blanket."
  3. Talk about using the gift - "It will keep out baby warm this winter when it's cold and snowy outside."
  4. Mention the past, allude to the future - "The shower was a hit, and I can't wait to see you again at . . . ."
  5. Thank them again - "Thanks again."
  6. Give regards - "Love, Kimberley"

A HOSTESS

Dear Amy,
What a delightful shower you held in my honor! I can't remember an afternoon that passed so quickly.
The food was surpassed only by your thoughtfulness. And the beautiful cake—well what can I say—I ate too much and then stayed too late, but that's what happens when you're having a great time. I think the baby received everything and then-some. It was the lift I needed here in the last month. My sincere thanks to you.
Love,
Kimberly

SHOWER GUEST

Dear so and so,
It was wonderful seeing you at the shower Amy gave. How thoughtful of you to bring the baby that lovely layette. I'm sure it will be one of the most useful gifts our baby receives. This wonderful wardrobe will get our baby started in style. Thank you for selecting such a great gift.
All my love,
Kimberly

A RELATIVE

Dear Mom,
Wasn't it so sweet of Amy to give me and...... (baby's name) a shower? Mom you out did yourself—while everyone else thought of the baby, you thought of me. The lovely gown, robe, bras, and panties will come in so handy. I've already packed them in my bag for the hospital. I will be the prettiest patient because of you. Your thoughtfulness is overwhelming. I can't wait until our baby calls you grandmother.
Love you always,
Kim

Dear Aunt so and so,
Mommy says I must send you a thank-you for the lovely engraved silver spoon. Daddy says that from the amount of milk I consume it won't be long before I'll be able to hold it with my two little hands and eat with it. Please come and see me soon.
With all my love,
Your new nephew,
Mason

GROUP GIFT

My dear friends,
I'm simply delighted with the car seat you so graciously gave me last week. It is exactly what I had in mind for the baby. I'm looking forward to welcoming the baby into our home and your gift will make his trip home from the hospital safe and give me peace of mind. I will be thinking of you every time I put the baby in it. Your thoughtfulness is so appreciated.
Sincerely,
Kimberly

If a gift comes from a large group or club, then it is proper to write a letter that can be read aloud to the entire group. When a smaller group, say three or four  "pitch-in" to buy one gift, be sure to write and thank each person individually.

A BABY GIFT

Dear so and so,
Without even looking at the address on the package, I know this pretty pink outfit had to be from you!
There's just no one who can shop for such a beautiful gift for our little one. We both send our thanks.
I can't wait for you to meet her!
Love,
Kimberly
